2. Vereda dos Balcões: Embark on a relatively easy and short hike along the Levada dos Balcões, spanning approximately 1.5 kilometers and lasting about 45 minutes one way. This circular levada trail starts at Ribeiro Frio and treats you to breathtaking panoramic views of the valley and surrounding mountains. As an added delight, be sure to bring some bread or buy seeds along the way to feed the charming little birds that will happily eat from your hands. Additionally, at the beginning of the levada, you can visit a trout farm, and the nearby restaurants offer delicious, freshly prepared trout dishes.
